A Conversation About Kairos

One of the things I like to do when I am getting ready to go on a new Kairos weekend is to watch any new Kairos Videos I can find on YouTube. This video is one of the best I have come across in a while.  This guy shares why the Kairos Ministry is important not just for the participants going through the weekend but to himself personally as a volunteer.  Sometimes I think that part of the ministry is overlooked or maybe taken for granted. This ministry allows you an opportunity to become God's servant in a way that is hard to explain and has to be experienced to understand.    I know that I am not alone in feeling this way abut Kairos because I know many volunteers that have been working in this ministry for 10, 15, 20 years some never stop once they start until they leave this world to be with God.  I genuinely believe that the Kairos Ministry is a gift from God.   If you have time, watch the video and say a prayer to God thanking him for everything ...

It is almost time

The Start of a New Journey

Each Kairos weekend is the start of a journey of men from many different Christian denominations to form one team to try to do God's will.  The key scripture for the Kairos Ministry is (Matt 25:36)  “I was in prison, and you visited me.”  and this simple scripture forms the core of why the Edinburgh Kairos volunteers come together every spring & fall to host a Kairos weekend at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility.  This next Kairos weekend at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility will be  its10th weekend and held on April 16th - 19th.  The first team formation meeting will be on January 25th, 2020 at the Calvary Christian Church7648 E State Road 252Edinburgh, Indiana from 8am to 2pm.   You can find more information about Edinburgh Kairos Ministry or an application to join the Spring team at  https://www.edinburghkairos.org  .

Kairos at the Catholic Corrections Conference 2019

To all our Kairos brothers, I wanted to share with you the blessings of the Indianapolis Catholic Archdiocese conference on Prison Ministry. The conference is a gathering of those throughout the Archdiocese of Indianapolis who participate in some form of prison ministry. Kairos has been involved in the last two years as a breakout session for those wanting to understand our ministry. This year 140 people attended the conference. We shared a breakout session with Steve Fisher of "Residents Encounter Christ." His ministry is focused on serving those in the county jail population and appears to be similar to the Kairos weekend. Joining us in presenting the Kairos ministry were Shari Hansel and Laurie Sexton both from Kairos Outside, Travis Burgan, Bob Kattau, Frank Sherpersky, and myself. Nick Martin attended the conference but attended the other sessions. As part of the program, they had offenders now released share about their experience in prison. One of those had been he...
