Kairos #8 Edinburgh Correctional Facility

Kairos is a Greek word meaning in “God’s Special Time” or “In the Fullness of Time.” The Kairos weekend is a special time for 24 men incarcerated in the Edinburgh Correctional Facility to spend four days with 28 Kairos volunteers, men from different religious denominations, all focused on creating an atmosphere where the love of God is visible and present. The Kairos ministry is a blessing to all who volunteer to go into the prison, but it offers many opportunities to those who do not feel called to enter the prison. During t he Kairos weekend, there are many talks focusing on the abundance of God’s love. As a symbol of this love, large plates of cookies are placed on each table, and these plates remain filled up throughout the weekend.  We need volunteers to help make these cookies. We will use over 800 dozen cookies during the weekend. The Department of Corrections allows only one Cookie Recipe to be used in cooking of the Kairos cookies. We encourage families to pray for the...
